well sunday i went out for practice got to the line took off didnt even make it on the track and my bike just shut off.i tried kicking it ovr and it seemded to kick over hard so i pushed it back to our trailor. then tried starting it and it started right up so i went back on the track went around once no problems seemded to have a little less power but it was a sand track so i thought maybe that was the cause..as soon as i pullded of the track it started making a ticking noise so i shut it off..any body have any idea's...ive had the valve train off and everything seems to look good...timings good..chains good.(i thought maybe it skipped a tooth but no)also i had the timing covers on the side off and it turns over hard once for the compression stroke the it has another spot where it turns over slightly hard again....any body have an idea? maybe a ring broke?piston?crank bearing or crank?....

Ticking could be valve train or connecting rod bearing, Did you check valve clearence? Maybe try a leak down test.
Take the spark plug out and turn it over look for hard spots or noises.
I'll race you when you learn to turn. Any retard can go fast in a straight line.

well i had i guy that is a kawi mechanic look at it.he said the valve train looks good and that his guess is that its something in the bottom end.ill have more info by the end of the week..i guess either way while i have the engine apart and out i might as well rebuild the whole thing right? anybody like certain a certain brand of pistons,valves,crank...etc not sure if i should just go with the stock stuff or buy some aftermarket high performance stuff

I would go with CP Pistons and Hot Rods bottem end kit thats me. I have used wiseco and they suck they burn up way to easy. My bike was just a tad lean and it burnt up in less than a hour.

I had pro circuit piston, cam, valves, springs in Honda last year. I liked it but it was hard to start, partially because of honda ha ha and part because of the cam. I have all stock in my Kawi so not sure as far as the Kawi's go.

i run Wiseco in my yz250, one thing i learned is that the tolerances are really tight on the wiseco, so you need to let the bike warm up. and jet it slightly on the rich side.
