i doubt that yamaha will call quits on 2 strokes.... being with ama's new regulation i believe sales went up atleast 10% over that of the 250 4 stroke

honda is done making 2 strokes. I went to a bran new honda dealer to get the parts for my bike and i said "i dont see any 2 strokes on the floor?" and the guy behind the counter was like "nope were not selling them anymore" it was quite a shock and kind of a dissapointment because the 2 strokes look so much better then the 4 strokes do.

yea if they keep the rule with 250 smokers in the lites class for a while I would think some manufactures would start thinking about making them again, maybe not the 125's but the 250's. I am sure Yamaha didnt completely quit on the 2-strokes, I havent checked but I think they are still making 85's instead of 150's like honda..

the 09 yz is honesty the closest thing you could get to a 4 stroke terms of powerband wise. the thing is so broad and powerful it's not even funny!

Hey MX....How would you comnpare the '09 to the '00. More abrupt, or smoother power. Honest opinion please. Lots of opinions on powerbands from different guys wanting different power from their YZ250's Thanks

seat of the pants it feels like the 2000 has more power then the 09. the delivery is so smooth on the 09 that it almost feels like a 450, not as big of a grunt down low, but man i tell ya.
the big thing i noticed is how it feels when riding. bike it tracks exactly where you want it to go. and is so flickable it's not even funny.
one drawback is there still the chassis twist / flex to it, not like early years, but it is noticeable. The suspension was a bit soft for me. out of the box (157 ish lbs.) quick rrevalve on the forks and a heavier spring on the rear solved that tho.
if i had the money i'd pickup a 450 for trails, and buy a 09 yz for the track. by far the best track bike i have ever ridden.
and as for the powerband guys. no bike straight from the factory is going to please everyone. that's why we have aftermarket companies and certified technitions.
