Well my dirt bike i have owned for 5 years it was giving to me for free. It never failed me till this year when i went riding with some buddys. I went out for the day riding and it ran good all day and it just acted weird then i got home took it all apart and fixed it. I rebuilt the carb and that solved that problem, So then this year i started her up and she wont run at all you give it gas then it pops and sputters an dosent run worth crap. I had one of my dads buddy look at it. he said it might be the points we havent looked at then yet...

It's possible... never had them apart on a dirtbike although that was the issue with my 79 Honda Odyssey go cart. It hadn't run for years and just pulled off the flywheel and took some sand paper to it. I also believe we sprayed some carb cleaner around them to sort of clean it up.

I'm confused at to when you rebuilt the carb but to me it sounds like the carb needs to be cleaned or a crank seal is leaking.

sounds like a plugged pilot jet. you'd be surprised how the littlest particle of dirt or debris can plug it

AHH points. Jeez, now you brought back memories of how much I hated those damn things. They can and do cause all sorts of wicked problems. Usually it will act like a half fouled out spark plug. Such as your ailment.
They are easy to work on if you have some mechanical knowledge. Get a ignition rebuild kit and the gap specs from your local yamaha dealer. I'm sure your dad knows about points. They should be replaced every so often anyway.
And clean that carb while your at it too.

Yeah i rebuilt the carb with all new jets and gaskets etc... and right before i even started her up i cleaned the carb GOOD! Yeah that's what i am thinking its the points because this guy before me who just gave it to me dosent know what a tool is, I am positive he didn't touch the points and ether his dad before him who bought it.But i don't maybe it could be a crank seal...

I have never had to deal with points so I don't know how to test them but someone with more knowledge will know how so I would do that first and see if there are any problems there. If not try the ether/propane trick around the crank to test for a crank seal and maybe go through the carb again to be sure.

Same as the ether. You just spray some down around the crank and if it revs up than the seal is leaking.

That's not wise to do with points. They throw sparks.
