How about we do have the biker and Mx gives us each 3,000 to put towards our bikes. I think that would get me a good start.

I'm in! You can send me the funds for the build and I'll get started on it ASAP haha.
I'm in the process of hunting around for a different bike, so maybe I'll have to look into doing a build off with someone on here, only thing is I'm thinking 450 instead of 250. We'll have to see where it goes I guess.
Nice job on the rebuild there Darkside.

^^^Ok James..... What do you think of your CR 250? I think it was your video on here that I saw and there was a 450 in it, how do the two bikes compare?

oh the 450 is faster. I dont really like the power of a 450...its fast....but..its not as fun as a twostroke. You dont have to play around with the gears. I always found what made a dirtbike so unique was the 2stroke motor. I will never sell this 250.

Ya them 450's sure aren't for me either. I rode on awhile back, and it was insane. Thats a lot of power to be straddling between your legs. 2 strokes are just funner, not sure why. Although wouldn't mind upgrading to a 250 next year.

Ya, I'm kinda sitting on the fence yet with what to do, I plan on selling mine just to get something different. I would like another 250 two smoker, but there just aren't as many around as 450's anymore. At least that is the way it is here.

I race a 250F and have ridden and raced 450F's along with ridden 250 2-strokes. My opinion is two strokes are more fun without a doubt. My brother gets mad at me for steeling his 125 and going and messin around all the time. I love 125's. For me I think 125 is the most fun bike to ride, i think its just because you can ride the **** out of them. When i rode 450 vs 250 I dont really know what one I liked better. I like the 125/250 bike size alot better than the 250/450 bike size. Im not really to the point where I can ride a 250/450 to its potential, which realistically besides the pro's not many people are. My opinion is I think 2-strokes are more fun, but 4-strokes make it easier to go faster.

I've ridden and raced both. It all comes down to the rider and what their preference is... For me i like instant power, light weight and absolutely hate engine breaking. I love the yz cause the power is right there when you need it, there is no hesitation, when you snap it and pop the clutch the power is always there. The bike weighs 211 lbs dry. (20-30 lbs) lighter then any competitive 4 stroke, sure the HP numbers isn't as much as a comparable 4 stroke, but they are not off by that much and when it comes to track racing, i'll give up 5 hp for a lightweight bike that i can throw around for 35 min instead of having it and it's engine gyro effects thrown me around. Ever lay a 4 stroke into a rut and have the front end wash out or push through the corner? i have, it's hard to maintain it with the engine effects.
One thing i learned over the years is you steer a 2 stroke with the rear wheel and body placement, you steer a 4 stroke with the front wheel. Riding with my buddy brandon and his 06 YZ450F, i'd take my 250 and i sometimes have to pry him off of it cause they are just so much fun to ride. nimble, lightweight, low center of gravity, enough HP, but not too much to get you into trouble, (tho i'm kinda pushing that envelope now)
my 2 cents for what they are worth...

Thats is so true. I guess I have never thought about it but that is exactly true. Which is why railin ruts on a 125 is so much easier than on a 250F, for me anyway.

Thanks guys for all your help. I guess I might just end up keeping this one or picking up a brand new none current if I can find one.

The difference between the steel frame yz and the aluminum yz is night and day when coupled with the SSS Suspension. (06+) It's a little stiff for trail riding, but an unbelievable suspension for racing and jumping. it will take anything and everything you throw at it.
