I got a 2000 XR 50 that I traded for a golf cart and the timing is messed up, so I'm wondering how I get it running again.

i know on my 3-wheeler there is a mark on the cam gear that should point up to a mark on the valve cover. is there a big screw on the left side down on the crank case?

there are the letters "f" and "t" on the fly wheel, i forget the letter it is but i know its the letter on the right side, should be lined up on a notch on the case. and there should be an "o" mark on the cam sprocket and that should be in the 9 o clock position on the cam. i also forget what the nobs that stick out on the cam are too, but i know those are supposed to be facing the motor. and also check that the valves are adjusted properly, they should be open 0.005mm, or a sheet of paper works.

its not really as hard as it seems but make sure the flywheel does not move at all.

i think you are talking about your 185 that has a vertical cylinder, pitbikes,50s have horizontal cylinders
