Well I figured since there is nothing going on here I might as well start something about jetting my bike. My bike currently has a 170 main, 42 pilot, 4th needle clip, and 1/4 turn out on the fuel/air screw. The bike runs rich as hell and floods out mid rpm. So what I had planned on doing was moving the needle one step richer (3rd position) and leaning it out on the main. Sound right? What about the pilot and fuel/air screw? I know the pilot doesn't change much but I'm stumped as to what to do with the fuel/air screw to get everything right.

I run a 178 main with a 48 pilot and the needle clip in the 3rd position (middle grove)

I would not go richer with your needle. Move the clip up, so the needle drops down to lean in out more. I would start with that. Then go to your main and pilot.

So far all I have done is back the air/fuel mixture screw out to 1 1/4 turns to see what the change is. I went to a pit today and road it but I don't think was much difference. The lower the number of jet the smaller it is, correct?

EDIT:

I just did a plug chop on todays plug and it appears to be running mint. I'm going to do another one on this plug next ride. What else would cause the mid-range boggle?

Lower number means the hole is smaller, therefore it would be a leaner jet.

How am I supposed to check the pilot jet? I want to get rid of this boggle but am starting to think the main and needle are fine. I would get a picture of the plug but I fell on the camera at the end of the ride and it no longer works haha.

Fixed the camera

for low end you adjust your pilot. middle power adjust needle. and for three quarter to full adjust main jet. What are all your settings at right now? or are they still the same as your first post?

The only thing different now is the fuel/air screw which is now at 1 1/4 turns out. I have a 42 pilot and 170 main in it now with the needle in the 4th position (one leaner than the middle). I was given a 38 pilot and 160 main but have yet to put them in because I think a 160 is a lot leaner than what I need. I'm starting the think the main is fine from what that plug looked like.

If its popping you are most likely lean. I dont mess with the 2 strokes to much anymore, so i dont know really what you should do with your fuel/air screw since the 4-strokes have a little different set up for that.

So your settings are currnetly
Pilot - 42
Needle - 4th from bottom?
Main - 170
Fuel Screw - 1 1/4 turns out?

Yes those are my current settings. While its popping if I hold it at that rpm it will eventually foul the plug and the plug comes out black and slightly wet.

I would try moving the clip to the 5th from bottom notch. So move the clip up one. Put a new plug ride it a bit and let me know the results and how the plug looks. That should lean it up a bit which sounds like your mid range is running rich which can usually be fixed by adjusting the needle.

a 178 is the stock main.

There is something seriously wrong if you're running a 170 main unless you're at like 10,000 feet

It used to drip a little bit of gas once in awhile but it hasn't done that in over 2 months. I figured needle and seat wre gone but it stopped so I didn't check. I'm at about 250ft.

I would adjust your main then if your that lean. I do think your going to have to adjust your needle yet but start with the main and see. It would help if i had some stock settings but i cant seem to find any

Stock is:

178 Main
50 Pilot
Looks like a N3VG needle in the 3rd clip

I'd run a 48 pilot and if you can find it a N3EW or N3EJ needle. I use the EJ in mine and it just flat out rips.
