Flywing dirt bike? - Bought it for 10 bucks. Need info started by Musky30

Well i got this motor all mounted to a frame. I dont know the size or the year and i would really like to know! But all i know is a Flywing motor came off a flywing dirtbike and it runs. I need to know how i can find out the 1.year and the 2.size.3.Can i or cant i put on straight pipes.4. What kind of oil dose it take? I think its a 4 stroke by the way it sounds but iam not sure. Thanks

Probley could get the vin number off of it and find out more info. For straight piping. If its a 2-stroke you would have to leave the header pipe (fatty pipe) on and you could probley straight pipe from that and not use a silencer although that is going to be very loud. Also you would run was lean so your going to have to adjust for that so I would just leave it. We have an old Trail Flite 4-stroke mini bike we straight piped and it runs fine so if its a 4-stroke that might be fine. If its a 4-stroke your gonna need to use 10-40 oil. If its a 2 stroke your gonna want to use 10-40 for your tranny oil and 2-stroke premix to mix with your gas.

from a quick google search of pics it looks like fly wing had 4-strokes but i am not sure. if you get the vin you can find out.

usually it is on the motor case just behind the kick starter and on the steering tube part of the frame right behind the number plate
