the bike looks clean and to me it looks like a good deal. im not sure too much on the 250 x's but i always used to ride honda before my race bikes and they ran really strong. the 250r's like valves. i'd say if it looks clean buy it

Im not way up to date on the X models, but I believe they have the same engine as the R's? If that is so the 04's where natorious for eating valves. 05's where better, and big improvements in 06'. Honda' are good bikes in general though and I really like the way they handle.

Never mine the 250x I really didnt want a four stroke anyways. I will be getting a 2001 yz 250 from a coworker for $1700 comes with alot of extras and he just rebuilt the bottem and top end last summer so should be good to go this year. I will try and get some pictures tomorrow.

I think you'll be happier with the 250 2s anyways :)

Yea I know I never really liked 4 strokes they seem to be a lazy bike to ride in my opinion 2 strokes are more fun. The plan is to build it into a woods weapon any of you guys running a fly wheel weight are they worth it?

I'm running a 11oz FWW on my 06, almost mandatory on that bike to keep the power to the wheel constant, but then again my bike is far from stock.

My brother's bike has the same motor as you and can run without one easily and still have tractable power. Although mine is really hard to stall when putting through the woods

I dont have a 250 2-stroke but my buddy used to and I rode and raced it a few times to see how I liked it. He had a flywheel weight on it and that seemed to help alot.

Well he brought the bike to work today checked it out its nice and man does this thing haul a$$. Plus it has a full pro circut exhaust system boyesen reeds he said he swaped the suspension over from a newer yz250 frogot what year maybe 03 or 05 maybe you can tell from the pic. It does need new side plastics and a sticker/seat cover set but thats about it just minor stuff I would do.
So when I ask him how much he wants to sell it for he pauses and then tells me hes not sure yet if he wants to sell it
I was pissed but he said he will let me know in a week or so he has to get his bills figured out.
Well only snapped one pic since its not my bike yet sorry it sucks my phone sucks

Seals are the same from 96-05 on every full size Yamaha so the only thing you need to worry about really is that the fluid volume changed almost every year and the springs and valving could be different every year.
