The 1981 Honda CR125R I had this past year and then sold it. Really wish I would've kept it. First year of liquid cooling, 10" of front suspension and 11" in the rear, gas shock with remote reservoir, and actually rode fairly decent. Was told the engine had a Wiseco piston and ran good. Miss the old 6 speed transmission. It kind of sucked at times but in open fields it was awesome. If I buy another vintage bike I want to get a 1980's Honda CR480R. What are you guys riding in vintage department or what have you had?

I had a 78' XR75, rode this piss out of that bike when I was younger. That was my first bike.

A kid we ride with has an old world war 2 Kawasaki 200. We pretty much use it as the groups spare if were just going to a gravel pit and someones bike is broke down or having issues. It's pretty fun to play around with. No brakes, no clutch, and no silencer equals a great time lol

A year or two ago i got a 1979 Honda Odyssey FL250 go cart running for a guy i knew and he told me as payment for labor I could drive it for a few years. That thing was a total beast when it came to super steep hill climbs! It either made it up the hill or roll over backwards trying. It had some nice over sized three wheeler tires, no rear suspension, and the throttle/brake levers were mounted on the steering wheel. Also, the brakes would only work on occasion so if something was in your way you gotta just hope your moving fast enough to go through it or in some cases ramp over it. I'm pretty sure there's some pictures in my gallery if your interested in seeing it (can't post pictures on my iPod).

Short picture video of the 1981 Honda CR125R I used to have. All the pics were taken in the first week or so of having it. After that I took it to a few mx tracks to see how it really handled and to it to a charity ride with a poker run and freestyle comp at the end.I had a videos of that stuff but they were on a flash drive that either got lost or stolen . Eventually sold it after getting the forks rebuilt and buying a new clutch cable (busted the old one).It was a really fun bike. Kinda miss the old 6 speeds.

You keep saying you missed the 6 speed, I don't really understand why u like them so much. Hell I had a 01 Suzuki 125 for a couple years and I didn't even realize it was a six speed until a week before I sold it... Even with 6 gears it was still a slow turd

Sorry about the 6 speed repeat. I posted that on SF and remembered this thread so I just copy and pasted it over here.Anyways riding the 6 speed was kind of fun. The bike had been set up for pretty much for all top end with very little bottom end pull (which made it a ***** to keep in the power band). But last year like I said I took it to a 15 mile poker run (5 laps at 3 miles each (i'm good at math hey )and each lap consisting of 1 mile of mx, a mile of woods, and a mile of open field). It dominated in the open fields. It pulled the front end up it 6th gear and really pissed some guys on 450's off. But they easily passed me up on the mx track since it was really muddy. Either way the bike was really worth the $450 I paid for it.

Turned 43 this year and found the exact same bike i learned to ride on....a Suzuki TS125. 100 dollars later and a new spark plug with fresh gas and the lil champ is running like a clock. Now i gotta find a 86 CR250R and life will be perfect as far as summer goes. It hurts like hell to ride with a hyper extended elbow and tendons, but with my hard sling all things are possible!!!

^ Had the bike in my avater about 5 years ago. 79 CR 125 elsinore. All original except the seat was recovered and I put a differant front fender on it to save the perfect original. I believe it had a 23" front wheel on it and a 18" rear. I remember their was a certain way that bike had to be started or it wouldn't start at all no matter what, not even being towed behind a quad. And the stock non- rebuildable silencer was ear splitting LOUD. It was a cool looking bike, but not much fun to ride.
If you can't afford a new four stroke, you can't afford a used one either!

Picked up a vintage YZ 250 today. I have to check the year but I'm guessing around 81. Apparently it has been bored .40 over and has a bigger carb. Factory Pro Exhaust Pipe (rare?) and a DG silencer. Rips pretty good for an old air cooled 250.

I'm hoping that someone that races vintage or just likes vintage bikes will buy it and hopefully it doesn't get scrapped or parted out. It's actually a pretty fun bike. The suspension isn't really that great but it is a 1979 and not too bad for being 32 years old. Power wise it will break the rear wheel loose and lift the front end off the ground no problem. I think that $700 obo is a pretty good price since I saw that mccookracing.com did a 79 yz250f project and they paid $1100 for the bike and it needed crank, rod, cylinder, etc. and mine runs great.
