125r top enf rebuild

ok first of how do i know what bore i need ? just measure it with a micrometer ? what about the cylinder just inspect it for wear ?? anything else ?

The easiest thing would be to take the cylinder and replacement piston to a shop that rebuilds motors and ask someone to mic the bore for you to measure out of round and piston clearance.

Thats a good idea mx cause it would really suck to misread the measurement if you were to do it yourself.

well i did it myself and got 54mm and looking at the pistons available it looks like that is the smallest and i believe this is this bike first top end , thus never being bored out. anyone have the torque spec for this motor?

99 should be a nicasil lined cylinder... no boring, just re-plating...

You should be able to find the specific measurements through a trusted source (some manuals, etc.). After this have someone you know that is really good at this stuff or the shop with a professional mechanic to verify the measurements.Also, you should be able to find machine specific fit pistons and top ends. Not just random sizes you have to search through to find the one you need!?!?

What he said ^^ Wiseco makes a wide variant of piston sizes for over bored as well as expanded cylinders, so measurements are crucial! not to mention proper clearance for when the piston expands....

The bore of the cylinder should be 54 mm
The cylinder head and base nuts should be tightened to 20 ft-lbs
